From previous MLB players to high level teachers, our staff has the skills and experience necessary to take our players to the next level.
Coaches
Adam Pate
Adam Pate began his coaching career with Wayne County Post 11 in 2018. In his tenure as Head Coach, Pate has led Post 11 to a 179-57 record, including a State Championship in 2024. Pate also coached at Wayne Country Day School from 2020-2024. During his tenure, Pate led the Chargers to a 76-10 record, winning NCISAA State Championships in 2021 and 2024. With connections across all levels of college baseball, Pate has helped nearly 50 players commit to play at collegiate programs since 2019.
Pate played at the University of North Carolina from 2014-2017. During his career, Pate appeared in 175 games, starting 108. Pate was named team captain in 2016 by legendary Head Coach Mike Fox, one of only two named captains in UNC baseball history. In the summer of 2015, Pate was named an All Star in the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League with the Harwich Mariners.
Matthew Hare
Matthew Hare brings collegiate coaching experience to ECA. Hare coached at the University of Mount Olive from 2021-2023, helping guide the Trojans to a 72-37 record during that time. In 2023, Hare helped UMO win the Conference Carolinas Tournament and achieve a top 5 national ranking. Prior to coaching at UMO, Hare worked with the baseball program at the University of North Carolina as a member of their analytics staff. As a Tar Heel, he assisted the coaching staff with advanced scouting of opponents along with other projects.
Hare has also been the Pitching Coach for Wayne County Post 11 since 2018. During those 7 seasons, Post 11 has achieved a 179-57 record, including a State Championship in 2024. Since 2018, Post 11’s pitching staff has a 3.19 ERA and has seen more than 30 pitchers commit to play at collegiate programs.
Ashton McGee
Ashton McGee comes to ECA after a standout playing career. McGee played at the University of North Carolina from 2017-2019. After graduating high school early in December of 2016 and enrolling mid-year, McGee had an extraordinary freshman season. Starting 57 games and hitting .327, he was named ACC Freshman of the Year and a consensus 1st-Team Freshman All-American. McGee started 176 games during his Tar Heel career, helping lead Carolina to two Super Regionals and an appearance in the 2018 College World Series. In 2019, McGee was drafted in the 18th round of the MLB Draft by the Milwaukee Brewers. He would play professionally for 3 seasons, making it as high as the AA level.
Doug Flowers
Doug Flowers brings extensive baseball experience to ECA. Flowers had a standout collegiate career at North Carolina Wesleyan. During his time there, Flowers was a two-time All-American, helping the Battling Bishops to two College World Series appearances, including winning the 1989 National Championship.
Following his time at NC Wesleyan, Flowers was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 1990 MLB Draft. He would play professionally for three years. Since the completion of his playing career, Flowers has coached all throughout amateur baseball.
Colton Chrisman
Colton Chrisman brings years of coaching experience to ECA. Chrisman was the Head Baseball Coach at North Duplin High School from 2022-2024. During his tenure, he led the Rebels to a 51-17 record and two conference championships. Chrisman has also helped coach Wayne County Post 11 since 2018. He has helped Post 11 to a 179-57 record during that time, including a State Championship in 2024.
Tyler Daniels
Tyler Daniels comes to ECA after a 4-year playing career at Alcorn State. Daniels appeared in 120 games during his career, starting 114. In 2023, Daniels led all Braves hitters in hits, doubles, and walks.
Daniels has also been coaching since 2020. He began coaching the Wayne County Post 11 junior team in 2020, and has been the Head Coach since 2022. Daniels has led them to a 35-11 record during his tenure as Head Coach.
Chad Pate
Chad Pate brings twenty years of coaching experience to ECA. Pate has coached at the youth, high school, and American Legion levels. Pate has helped coach Wayne County Post 11 since 2018. He has helped Post 11 to a 179-57 record during his tenure, including a State Championship in 2024. Pate also coached at Wayne Country Day School from 2020-2024. During his tenure, the Chargers had a 76-10 record, winning NCISAA State Championships in 2021 and 2024.
Advisory Board and guest coaches
Brian Miller
Brian Miller provides expertise to ECA from his collegiate and professional career. Miller played at the University of North Carolina from 2015-2017. During his career at UNC, Miller started 150 games, hitting .332 and stealing 55 bases. In 2017, Miller had a team-high .343 batting average and was named First-Team All-ACC and a Third-Team All-American. Following his junior campaign, he was selected with the 36th overall pick in the MLB Draft by the Miami Marlins. Miller would go on to make his MLB debut on July 30, 2021. Facing the New York Yankees, Miller would record his first major league hit against Jameson Taillon. During his six year professional career, Miller hit .280 and stole 163 bases.
Tim Naughton
Tim Naughton brings insight to ECA from his collegiate and professional career. Naughton played at NC State from 2015-2017. In 2017, Naughton was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 34th Round of the MLB Draft. Naughton has played six years professionally, reaching as high as the AAA level. Armed with a 100 mph fastball, Naughton has thrown over 200 professional innings, recording 271 strike outs.
Landon ginn
Landon Ginn brings valuable insight from his collegiate and professional careers. A Goldsboro native, Ginn played at the College of Central Florida in 2022. Ginn guided the Patriots to the NJCAA World Series and was named FCSAA All-State and to the NJCAA All-Region 8 Second Team. On the mound, Ginn threw 82 innings, earning a 10-1 record while compiling a 2.30 ERA and 103 strikeouts. A two-way player, Ginn also hit .323, tallying 4 Home Runs and 23 RBIs. He would then move on to East Carolina University where he would appear in 26 games in 2023. Throwing 34.2 innings, he struck out 36 hitters while earning a 6-1 record. Following the 2023 season, Ginn was signed by the Chicago Cubs where he is currently in Single-A.
eli sutherland
Eli Sutherland has played and coached at the collegiate level. Sutherland began his collegiate career at Junior College powerhouse Walters State. In his sophomore season, Sutherland started 55 games and led the Senators to the NJCAA World Series. During that season, Sutherland hit .384 and led the country in doubles with 25. Sutherland then moved on to play at the University of North Carolina. During his Tar Heel career, he appeared in 92 games, starting 81.
Following his playing career, Sutherland would return to Walters State as a coach for the 2017 season. During that season, Sutherland helped guide the Senators to a 44-12 record. Sutherland also has experience as a Head Coach at the high school level. He would spend two years as the Head Coach at Northwest Guilford, guiding them to a 48-13 record and a run to the 4A West Regional Final in 2023.
Patrick schultze
Patrick Schultze is a former collegiate athlete and physical therapist. Schultze graduated from Barton College in 2014 where he also played soccer. Following Barton, Schultze went on to Campbell University where he received a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Schultze advises ECA on a variety of sports medicine topics and is available to provide treatment to those in need.
Academic Advisors and Chaplain
Kim Pearson
Kim Pearson brings more than 20 years of experience in the education field to ECA. Pearson has taught in the elementary, middle and high school levels, and was most recently the Dean of Students at Wayne Country Day School. Pearson has worked with Rob Glass for over 10 years mentoring and advising students as they work their way through high school. She possesses a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology as well as a Master’s Degree in Education.
Rob Glass
Rob Glass brings a diverse background to ECA. Glass served around the world for over 23 years in the United States Air Force. After his retirement from the Air Force, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and began teaching and mentoring. Glass has taught science and STEM classes, and has tutored students in almost every other subject. Glass also owned and operated MRC Mentoring for over 10 years where he helped many young men and women navigate both their school and personal lives.
Becky Hare
Becky Hare brings 28 years of teaching experience to ECA. A math teacher, Hare has taught Pre-Calculus, AP Statistics, and many other math courses. She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina.
Anderson Barnes
Anderson Barnes is the chaplain for ECA. Barnes is currently the Student Pastor at Stoney Creek Church, and has been a youth pastor for more than a decade. Barnes meets with our players and staff weekly for a devotion, and is here to provide guidance for anyone in need.
